Whole Process of Making Scotch Whisky - Takes 3 Years

Do you believe that to make Scotch whisky it takes 3 years? Yes it will take. Sometimes more than 3 years, when it is getting older and older, the price of the Whisky will rises according to the age of it. Now we will see the whole making process of Scotch whisky.

Barley
Barley is a grain. First mix Barley, fountain water and Yeast together and keeps it to stagnancy to make the Mixture (Barley sugar mixture). Then this mixture heat and dry in the Malt Kiln. This is the dry Barley sugar mixture. Most of the time, the above process happens in outside of Whiskey manufacturing company. 2/3 cost of making Whiskey will allocated to above process.

Wart

Step 2 is to grind the Malt Barley and manufacture of Wort. In this process the Malt spirit sends to manufacture of Whiskey and the recrements sends to manufacture of manure. This Malt spirit called as “Mash Tun”, and this Mush Tun mix with the fountain water inside the coggie. After that do this mixing process for 3 times and creates the Wort.

Step 3 is fermentation process. Takes the Wort from step 2 and then put them in the wash-back vats coggies (This wash-back vats is manufacture from Douglas fir tree, and the coggie height is nearly 5m). This Wort and Yeast mix with 50000 l: 250 l in this process inside wash-back vats. It will take 2- 4 days for this fermentation process (33c) and 6%- 8% alcohol generates in the Wort.

Distillation equipments

Next step is Distillation process. Now we need to separate alcohol from the Wort. Most of the time Distillation equipments made out from copper and the shape of the equipments vary with the different manufacturers (that’s where the quality and brand comes from). The alcohol after distillation process is very toxic so it again extract from special equipment called copper, brass and glass spirit stills.

Now the final part Maturation, non toxic alcohol put into coggie which creates on Oak tree and keeps it more than 3 years to maturation. After 3 or more years the alcohol packs into bottles and send to market. Now it is time to drink….
